Introducing the TT Hub

TT HUB TURNTABLE*

Designed from first principles to offer the listener a musically satisfying experience, particularly when used with mid to high-end tonearms and cartridges, the TT Hub is offered without either if you wish to use your own preferred brand components, and also supplied with Sorane tonearm and Hana cartridge options

TT Hub uniquely features bamboo plywood in its construction (with both natural and dark stain colour options), alongside many other design features, to ensure that the sound is uncoloured, offers excellent timing and sound staging.

*Optional: available with Sorane tonearm and Hana cartridge options (for the UK market). Please ask for more details.

Concept and design details, in brief:

The design brief was to design a superb performance turntable with good looks at a realistic price point. The resulting TT Hub design hits this mark, and more.

The bamboo plywood used is a perfect natural material for most structural components in this design, being immensely strong with little energy storing potential or difficult-to-manage resonant characteristics. A fast-growing natural material, bamboo has good ‘green’ credentials too.

TT Hub is a non-sprung design. It features a multiple component isolation solution; it rests on compliant silicon feet under the base-board, and ‘tuned’ composite material spike-shoes sit within the top face.

The turntable ‘body’ with adjustable brass spike-feet is made from layers of bamboo plywood in a constrained layer construction, supporting the tonearm / bearing component, and this critical component design ensures a very rigid and resonant-free relationship between the tonearm plate, bearing, drive pulley and platter.

A self-lubricating bronze sintered main bearing design utilises a PEEK base component, on which a sapphire thrust bearing sits, all housed within a thick wall aluminium body.

The record platter sits on the drive pulley which is securely connected to the bearing shaft. The black acrylic platter has a foamed record mat bonded to the top face upon which the record sits. This semi-rigid foamed mat material both absorbs the LP record vibrational energy and isolates from the acrylic platter (a material with its own sound signature).

To ensure perfect pitch and speed, a quartz clock controlled circuit runs the AC motor, offering a constant and smooth speed regardless of variations in mains voltage, frequency, and condition.

The quartz regenerator provides a 50Hz accuracy of 0.003%, whilst mains frequency can vary up to 2% moment to moment.

The motor controller runs up the motor to reach full speed and then reduces power slightly to reduce motor ‘cogging’. Along with 33.333 and 45 RPM switch speeds, there is variable speed control so any slight speed changes such as drive belt wear can be easily adjusted for.

The high quality AC motor is housed in an isolation motor-pod which sits on the base-board. The drive belt is critically positioned in relationship to the cartridge playing position to offer the best sound quality.

The tonearm ‘board’ is manufactured from aluminium and like the motor pod has a matt textured silver anodised surface treatment. It is adjustable so exact positioning of the tonearm is easily achieved.

There are standard pre-cut tonearm boards for Sorane, Rega and Linn tonearms plus SME slider plates.

There are two sizes of ‘blank’ tonearm boards available for 9”, 10” and 12” tonearms. These blank tonearm boards can be processed to order for any tonearm fixing option.

The TT Hub foam platter mat is available as an accessory item for use on any turntable.
